Figgy Success

Sonia Day has been harvesting her own figs, which she much prefers to store-bought figs.Toronto Star garden columnist Sonia Day writes about her success with figs this year. "Straight off the tree figs are yummy, quite unlike the purple, cottony, flavourless fresh specimens sold everywhere now — and light years away from those horrid dried slabs full of gritty seeds," says Day.

While Day had plans to use her fresh figs in the kitchen (wrapping in prosciutto, simmering in honey)…they were gobbled up before reaching the kitchen.
